The best decision we made about our wedding was having a destination wedding that went for a week as in that week we really got to spend time with our loved ones in beautiful Airlie Beach. And our guests loved it also as they had time to explore the Whitsunday's and take a holiday too. We honestly wouldn't change one thing we had the best time of our lives.
Our wedding day went so smoothly we felt like we were in a beautiful dream it was pure perfection. Everyone involved went above and beyond for us and everyone still talks about how perfect everything was. Nothing was ever a drama and they treated everybody like VIP guests. We could relive that week over and over again. I get emotional just thinking about it
Wedding date: 28th Of September 2013 At Villa Botanica In Airlie Beach Queensland Australia.
Honestly for me the best moment of our day was feeling the pure love from my husband Steve, seeing the happiness on our children's faces, seeing how proud our parents and families were and just sharing this perfect day with our closest friends and family. Also the beautiful and very emotional speeches to our most romantic night together. Our wedding day was absolutely the best day of our lives, we will treasure every single moment of it for the rest of our days. It was beyond perfection it was magnificent.

Finding the dress was absolutely the hardest part of my whole wedding experience and I had imagined that would be the most fun but at the time of looking the only dresses in the shops were lace and lots of it and all I wanted was a gown that was heavily beaded with crystals that scattered down the gown as I was obsessed with a Jaton gown (but was certainly out of my budget!) so I searched online to try and find something that had a similar feel. I finally found a dress online and there began my search I first contacted all of the shops in NSW that carried Mori Lee as this particular dress wasn’t in Australian stores yet as it was only just realised in America and I asked for quotes from each store and then went ahead with the cheapest one.
I was terribly lucky to find an amazing dress maker who then totally transformed my gown as the beading work was so gorgeous but the shape wasn’t like the picture or what I wanted so Dom totally reconstructed it and it turned out to be my dream dress.

I absolutely loved the magic that Dom my dressmaker created as she tailored it perfectly to my shape so that it suited my body and the heavily beaded bodice of crystals and pearls that scattered down the gown was divine. I didn’t want a long train as I wasn’t having a bridal party to help fluff it out all day so I wanted the smaller train that had enough structure underneath it so it would take care of itself and it did that perfectly.
I have never felt more beautiful the gown was gorgeous and what I had envisioned and was surprisingly comfortable we were lucky to have perfect weather also so that helped as I wasn’t to hot and that was a major concern of mine.
Headwear/veil brand and contact details:
Headwear was a crystal headpiece from eBay that turned out to match my Samantha Wills earrings perfectly and a two tiered veil with full Swarovski crystal edge that was waist length.

I chose this because my theme was ‘Bohemian Glamour’ and I felt this gave me exactly that.

I loved that my crystal headpiece matched my Samantha Wills earrings perfectly and my Mum’s jewellery was very sentimental as she is no longer with us and it helped me feel close to her on such a special day.

Bridesmaid dresses:
As we have children together we decided to not have a wedding party but to have a family wedding so we had our daughter Mia as our flower girl and our son Bodhi as our pageboy. Mia’s dress I made it myself and this made it a very special mother/daughter experience.
Our daughter Mia picked the colour and that was all shades of pink and she wanted the ultimate princess dress so after a lot of research online I decided to make the dress myself she looked so beautiful as she floated down the Isle.
Groom and pageboy suit brand and contact details:

Hair and makeup details:
Even though I am a professional make up artist we had make up and hair included in our wedding package from Villa Botanica so I decided to relax and let Lauriely do it and I was very happy with the beautiful natural look that she did. We had so much fun together.
And hair was by Mandy from Whitsunday Platinum Hair Design Airlie Beach.

Wedding Planner contact details: I had the most magical wedding planner Jane Sagi from Villa Botanica we called her ‘Our Angel’.
Jane held my hand through EVERY step of planning our wedding at Villa Botanica from start to finish over 6 months she walked me through every process of what needed to be done and more. She certainly went above and beyond her role as wedding planner and I'm happy to say she became a very good friend through the process. As we were having a destination wedding and I lived in Sydney I had to rely on her experience for everything needed from Airlie Beach and she was there for me day or night, nothing was ever any trouble she is one AMAZING and organised woman. Jane made our whole wedding planning experience stress free and on the day we didn’t worry about one thing as she had everything going like a well oiled machine that was the best part about having our wedding at Villa Botanica the whole team there is fantastic and take such good care of you and all you need to do is tell them what your dream day would be and they will help make it happen.
(I can't believe that I don't have a better photo of Jane but this was at our rehearsal.)
Stationary and contact details:

We loved that they had the Villa Botanica feel to them and they totally went with our Bohemian Glamour theme. I wanted Peacock feathers as part of our theme so these were a perfect reflection of what was to come.
I wanted peacock feathers but not your traditional peacock invitations and colours so again after searching online I came across this company and they were great to deal with and were happy to custom make anything we wanted.

Menus and name cards:
We went to Melanie Blanco from Parklea Markets for our menu and name cards they had a soft baby pink backing with a white peacock feather embossed print top sheet, she printed and cut them all and to save money I put them together.
As we had an intimate wedding of 40 people we put all of our loved ones nicknames on the menu’s and Name cards for a fun touch and for our Bonbonerie we held a “Thank you Cocktail Party” on the Jetty at the Coral Sea Resort the following night so the name cards were also invitations for that too.
For our Bonbonerie:
We held the ‘Thank you Cocktail party” the following night
The Cocktail party was set on the Jetty in the middle of the water where we and most of our guests stayed, The Coral Sea Resort in Airlie Beach.
We really wanted to say thank you to our guests as they had spent a lot of money to be with us on our special day and it was great as on your wedding day you are really quite busy so having the cocktail party it was a relaxing way to have drinks and canopies and to spend some quality time catching up with all our loved ones.
We saved money on decorations as we used a lot of our wedding decorations again at the cocktail party and served more of our wedding cake with tea and coffee also.

Flowers and contact details:
We had Phalaenopsis orchids in white with fuchsia throats as the main flowers for my bouquet and Steve's buttonhole.
Our reception table had Lisianthus, Freesia's (in memory of my Mum), Sweet peas, Snap dragons, Roses, Babies breath, David Austin Roses, Hyacinth's, Phalenopsis orchids and lots of other flowers that Janelle surprised me with all in shades of pinks to white.
My bouquet was a ball of pink and white roses with a spray of hanging phalenopsis orchids with hanging Swarovski crystals to resemble parts of the reception table decorations.
Mia our daughter wore a halo of babies breath for her head piece. And a basket full of rose petals.
The flowers were something we had decided to spend more of our budget on as we could use these for 2 evenings as we were holding the "Thank you Cocktail Party" as our bonbonerie the following night.
These are all my favourite flowers especially the phalaenopsis orchids as they were the true star and this selection of flowers were in season and could withstand the weather in the tropics.
They looked and smelled so gorgeous, this was my dream come true the flowers looked and smelled so exquisite and they certainly gave a draw dropping impression on everyone who was there…. pure perfection. Janelle from the flower Hut also gave me a big surprise and made a special posy of fressia’s in memory of my mum so we could take a photo of my mothers diamond ring with them and that truly touched my heart and I can’t thank her enough for that.

I had a very particular vision for our wedding day and we called it "Our Bohemian Glamour- Family Wedding". We just loved the isle as you start to walk through the arch way down the mosaic tiled isle to the wooden hand crafted wedding pavilion with white soft chiffon curtains and the beautiful aqua water behind it, it was just breath taking and we felt it was the perfect place for us to say “I do”.
We had a family sand ceremony to incorporate our family being together forever, it was so special and something we will all remember. Each of us had a different colour of sand to represent us that we poured into a shadow box frame so we would be all mixed together forever and we now have a photo in the frame of that moment and its so special to us and our children.
We wanted an estate that would only hold our wedding on the day and that was one big reason why we picked Villa Botanica and also the luxury of what Villa offered us and our guests. We loved that our guests were collected from their hotel lobby’s and taken to Villa and they stayed there until the end of the night and they were taken back and no one had to worry about a thing. Villa Botanica has an awesome child care area with qualified nannies so kids were totally catered for and their parents didn’t have to worry about them as they were having a ball and this was great for us as we had our little ones too.
Celebrant-
Colleen Farry was our celebrant and she is so warm and caring and held such a beautiful ceremony we couldn’t be happier and would recommend her to any couple.
